Baseball Recap: Valwood Wins Going Away Against Community Christian Academy

While Valwood put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Community Christian Academy. Valwood was the clear victor by a 15-0 margin over Community Christian Academy. Considering the Valiants have won five contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Asher Wells was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero). He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

In other batting news, Dustin Gibbs was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Chase Helfer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and one stolen base.

Valwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Valwood is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. Community Christian Academy is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Looking ahead, Valwood will be taking part in a tournament against Wilmington Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Community Christian Academy, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Central Georgia Arts at 4:00 p.m. on April 8.
