Soccer Game Preview: Clovis vs. Clovis West

The Clovis Cougars will venture away from home to challenge the Clovis West Golden Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Clovis' offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for five straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Clovis is likely headed into the match with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Clovis East on Tuesday. Clovis lost 4-0 to Clovis East. That's two games in a row now that the Cougars have lost by exactly four goals.

Meanwhile, Clovis West hadn't done well against Buchanan recently (they were 1-7-1 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Clovis West had just enough and edged Buchanan out 2-1.

Clovis' defeat dropped their record down to 4-9-4. As for Clovis West, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2-2 record this season.

Clovis came up short against Clovis West when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 3-1. Can Clovis avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
