Abingdon/Avon came into Wednesday's matchup having lost 11 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out the Princeville Princes 2-1 on Wednesday. This was payback for the Tornadoes, who suffered a 2-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Abingdon/Avon got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 20-25, 25-22.

Charly Cox paced Abingdon/Avon's offense, picking up eight kills. Cox got some help from Vivian Bigger and her 23 assists. Camdyn Hull controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Abingdon/Avon's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-8 and their overall record up to 2-23. As for Princeville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-18.

Abingdon/Avon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Cuba/Spoon River Valley on the 18th. As for Princeville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Bureau Valley on the 20th.
