Basketball Recap: Franklin Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Franklin can finally bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Saturday. They skirted past the Lodi Flames 41-39. The Wildcats' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Franklin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cara Nguyen led the charge by going 6 of 13 on her way to 14 points. What's more, Nguyen also racked up four rebounds, the most she's had since back in January. Rhiannon Esguerra was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Franklin's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Lodi, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-7.

Franklin will take on Oak Ridge in a tournament on Friday. One thing working in Oak Ridge's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matches. Lodi and Turlock will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Lodi is facing Turlock at the right time seeing as Turlock is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
