Basketball Game Preview: Mountain Empire Redhawks vs. West Shores Wildcats

The Mountain Empire Redhawks will challenge the West Shores Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain Empire's offense hasn't had much luck over their past five contests, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Friday, Mountain Empire ended up a good deal behind Coastal Academy and lost 30-13.

Aimee Acevedo put forth a good effort for the losing side as she posted five points. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Idania Juarez also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Shores). They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 49-21 victory over Borrego Springs. The Wildcats have beaten the Rams the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Rams has come to flipping the script.

Mountain Empire better keep an eye on Nayeli Acosta. She was instrumental in West Shores' win, putting up 28 points. Acosta's big performance that afternoon made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points.

Mountain Empire's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for West Shores, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
