Recap: Charleroi Cougars vs. South Park Eagles
If the Charleroi Cougars were riding high off their 56-25 takedown of the Ringgold Rams on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Charleroi was beaten by South Park 68-29 on Monday. Charleroi was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 53-18.
Despite the loss, Charleroi still got an impressive performance from Bella Carroto, who scored 15 points. Carroto scored a full 51.7% of Charleroi's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Sypolt, who scored eight points.
Charleroi has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for South Park, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.
Charleroi will head out on the road to face off against Brownsville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Brownsville is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for South Park, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Waynesburg Central at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Waynesburg Central is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
