Basketball Game Preview: Galeton Tigers vs. Smethport Hubbers

Galeton hasn't had much luck against Smethport recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Galeton Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Smethport Hubbers at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Galeton is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 38th straight game dating back to last season on Saturday. They were dealt a 46-13 loss at the hands of Sayre. The Tigers were down 31-10 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Meanwhile, Smethport scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 58-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cameron County. The Hubbers just can't catch a break and have now endured seven defeats in a row.

Smethport's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Galeton, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-17.

Galeton ended up a good deal behind Smethport in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, losing 38-22. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Smethport's Madelyn McKean, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten steals. Now that Galeton knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
