Recap: Mount Airy Granite Bears vs. Surry Central Golden Eagles

After flying high against the Elkin Buckin' Elks last Thursday, the Mount Airy Granite Bears came back down to earth. Mount Airy fell just short of Surry Central by a score of 60-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Ayden Wilmoth continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Surry Central, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. The match was Wilmoth's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Tripp Mcmillen was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five assists.

Mount Airy's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Surry Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Mount Airy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against West Stokes at 4:30 p.m. on December 29th. West Stokes knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Mount Airy likes a good challenge. Surry Central won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Starmount at 1:30 p.m. on December 29th. Starmount will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 507th, while Surry Central is ranked 196th).
