Baseball Recap: Union County Comes Up Short

If Union County was feeling good fresh off their 11-0 takedown of Towns County last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Union County Panthers fell just short of the Gilmer Bobcats by a score of 4-2 on Friday. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bobcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Union County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bentley Rich, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Union County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Gilmer, the win also got them back to even at 1-1.

Coming up, Union County will challenge White County at 11:00 a.m. on February 22nd. As for Gilmer, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 14-6 loss against Pickens on the 18th.
