Platte Valley is 1-6 against Resurrection Christian since August of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Broncos will head out to take on the Cougars at 4:00 p.m. One thing working in Platte Valley's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.
Platte Valley hadn't beaten Valley on the road since September 13, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Monday. The Broncos blew past the Vikings 11-4. The result was nothing new for the Broncos, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.
Alyssa Kendrick spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Haylee Bauer and Landree Edstrom did most of the damage at the plate: Bauer went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Edstrom went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Bauer has posted since back in August. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Meyer, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Platte Valley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Resurrection Christian fell victim to Brush and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Beetdiggers, falling 10-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Cougars were not able to get on the board.
Resurrection Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Platte Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-9 record this season.
Platte Valley suffered a grim 20-0 defeat to Resurrection Christian when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Broncos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
