Baseball Recap: Mapleton Takes a Loss

Mapleton extended their losing streak to six on Saturday, dropping them down to 2-21. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Hillsdale Falcons. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mounties of the 9-6 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Gabe Wrobleski made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. Lukus Jenkins also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

As for Hillsdale, they pushed their record up to 17-10 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games.

On Hillsdale's side, Aiden Hoffman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kael Lewis, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Brock Bower, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

As of now, neither Mapleton nor Hillsdale have any future games scheduled.
