Volleyball Recap: Galena Find Success

Galena posted their closest victory since September 16th on Thursday. They skirted past the Blue Eye Bulldogs 3-2. The win continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won five in a row.

Galena wouldn't go down easily and took Blue Eye into a fifth set where they got it done with a four-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 21-25, 23-25, 25-23, 15-11.

Galena found their leader in freshman Addison Williams, who had six aces and four digs. Those six aces set a new season-high mark for Williams.

Galena was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 15 aces. They are 10-1-1 when they serve at least ten aces.

Blue Eye's loss came despite strong showings from Meleah Mitchell and Coral Fultz. Mitchell had 18 digs, while Fultz had 22 digs, 11 kills, and two aces. Fultz is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last five games she's played.

Galena's victory bumped their record up to 16-10-3. As for Blue Eye, their defeat ended a five-match streak of away wins and brought them to 18-5-2.

Galena didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Hurley on the 14th. As for Blue Eye, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 1-1 tie against Seymour on the 11th.
