Baseball Recap: Gainesville Victorious

While Gainesville put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Seckinger. Gainesville had just enough and edged out Seckinger 1-0. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-1 last Monday.

Not much got past Cohen Miller, who gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Seckinger off the board. Furthermore, Miller didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February.

At the plate, Gainesville's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was CJ Saudarg, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Gainesville is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-12 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Seckinger and nudges their season record down to 13-7.

Gainesville will have a chance to go back-to-back against Seckinger: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
