Recap: Escalon Cougars vs. Ripon Indians
The Escalon Cougars put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Ripon 65-29 at home. Escalon has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 games by 22 points or more this season.
Escalon's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sammy Lang, who scored 18 points along with eight steals and six rebounds. Lang is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Madison Babasa, who scored 22 points along with three steals.
Escalon's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points per game. As for Ripon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Escalon will take on Livingston at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Livingston focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Thursday. As for Ripon, they will head out on the road to take on Hughson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hughson presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Ripon in California (Hughson is ranked 337th, while Ripon is ranked 760th).
