Football Recap: Cypress Centurions vs. Capistrano Valley Cougars
Cypress extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 3-4. They had to suffer through a 42-0 loss at the hands of the Capistrano Valley Cougars. If the Centurions were looking for revenge after losing 50-22 to the Cougars when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Xavier Guerrero threw for 60 yards on eight of 15 attempts. On the ground, Bryson Busbee rushed for 61 yards.
As for Capistrano Valley, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-1. The matchup marked their most dominant victory of the season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Capistrano Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Talon Spencer, who threw for 126 yards and two touchdowns while completing 84.6% of his passes, and also caught one TD. Abel Gherasin was in the mix too, providing the Cougars with two scores.
Coming up, Cypress will face off against Western at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Capistrano Valley, they will square off against Trabuco Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars will be up against the Mustangs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 32.71 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
