Baseball Recap: Mendon Unity Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Mendon Unity won against Seymour last Tuesday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Mustangs walked away with a 7-3 win over the Beardstown Tigers. This was payback for the Mustangs, who suffered a 3-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Mendon Unity's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Sawyer Allen, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double was Allen's first of the season.

Mendon Unity always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Beardstown only posted an OBP of .364.

The win (which was Mendon Unity's fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Beardstown, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Mendon Unity will take on Brown County at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Beardstown, they will face off against Astoria/VIT at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
