Basketball Game Preview: Union Mine Diamondbacks vs. Colfax Falcons

The Union Mine Diamondbacks will venture away from home to take on the Colfax Falcons at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Tuesday, Union Mine ended up a good deal behind Placer and lost 56-41.

Union Mine's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Adriana Cavallaro, who shot 43% from the field en route to 18 points, and Kyra Wooden, who posted 13 points along with six boards and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Sydnee Jones, who had four points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, Colfax unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were beaten by Carondelet 73-27 last Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Falcons have suffered since November 23, 2024.

Union Mine beat Colfax 39-31 when the teams last played back in February of 2019. Do the Diamondbacks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
