            Baseball Recap: Rutland Hurricanes vs. Central Chargers        
        
		
        
        
            After low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Rutland brought some dynamite into their most recent  matchup. Everything went their way against the Central Chargers on Monday as the Rutland Hurricanes made off with  a  13-7 victory. The  win was a breath of fresh air for the Hurricanes as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

 Rutland got a  massive  performance out of  Kaelik Marcus, who  scored three  runs and  stole a base while  getting on base  in all five of his plate appearances. Marcus is becoming a predictor of Rutland's success: when he posts  at  least two  runs the team is undefeated (and 2-3-1 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was  Tate Summerday, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 3-for-5.
Rutland's victory bumped their record up to 7-3-1. As for Central,  they are  on  a  13-game losing streak  (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.
 Rutland and Central could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage  in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings. Rutland will  challenge  Morgan County  at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday down  342 places (351 vs. 9). Rutland has given up an average of 8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. Similarly,  Central (ranked 471st) will meet Washington County (ranked 156th)  at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
