Baseball Game Preview: Appling County Pirates vs. West Laurens Raiders

The Appling County Pirates will head out to square off against the West Laurens Raiders at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Appling County has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while West Laurens will arrive with four straight victories.

Last Monday, Appling County didn't have quite enough to beat Wayne County and fell 3-2.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Laurens). They put the hurt on Cross Creek with a sharp 24-0 win on Tuesday. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

West Laurens' victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Appling County, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.

Appling County came up short against West Laurens when the teams last played on Thursday, falling 8-5. Can Appling County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
