Basketball Recap: Aniyah Venegas' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Golden West over Mt. Whitney

Golden West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 41-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mt. Whitney Pioneers. The Trailblazers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pioneers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.

Golden West lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Aniyah Venegas, who posted 20 points and five boards. The game was Venegas' 14th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Briana Lopez, who earned six points.

Golden West now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Mt. Whitney, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

Golden West wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 62-28 win against Fowler on the 19th. As for Mt. Whitney, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 38-27 loss against Orosi on the 19th.
