Basketball Game Preview: Enochs Eagles vs. Merced Bears

The Enochs Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Merced Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Enochs saw some tournament action two weeks ago. They took a 69-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of McKinleyville.

Meanwhile, Merced and Bear Creek faced off in a Battle of the Bears on Tuesday. Merced walked away with a 60-50 victory over Bear Creek. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bears.

Merced's win came from a few key players Enochs will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Diego Aguilar, who went 9 for 13 on his way to 22 points. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Thomas, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine boards.

Merced was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.

Enochs' loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Merced, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season.
