Football Recap: San Gabriel Takes a Loss

San Gabriel suffered their biggest loss since September 5, 2024 on Thursday. They were beaten by the Schurr Spartans 55-14. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Matadors' biggest loss of the season was also their lowest-scoring.

When it comes to explaining why San Gabriel lost, don't look at Jahkai Lowe. Despite the final result, he picked up 122 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Lowe also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making two total tackles and defending three passes.

Having lost for the first time this season, San Gabriel fell to 5-1. As for Schurr, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-3 record this season.

San Gabriel will venture away from home to face off against Bell Gardens at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th. The Lancers' defense has only allowed 10.7 points per game this season, so the Matadors' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Schurr, they will head out on the road to challenge Mark Keppel at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th. The Spartans will be up against the Aztecs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 50.2 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
