Preview: Blackhawk Cougars vs. Union Area Scotties
Blackhawk is on a four-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Union Area is on a five-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. Having just played yesterday, the Blackhawk Cougars will get right back to it and host the Union Area Scotties at 1:45 p.m. on December 29th. Hopefully Blackhawk is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Union Area in Pennsylvania (Blackhawk is ranked 40th, while Union Area is ranked 166th).
Blackhawk has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 20 points or more this season. Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2023 than the 59-15 stomp they got at home against New Castle. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 40-6.
Blackhawk's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alena Fusetti, who scored 16 points. Andrea Kinger was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meanwhile, Union Area might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Blackhawk an easy 50-30 win.
Blackhawk is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for Union Area, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
Everything went Blackhawk's way against Union Area in their previous meeting last Wednesday as Blackhawk made off with a 50-30 victory. Will Blackhawk repeat their success, or does Union Area have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
