Basketball Recap: Bre Montano Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Bonita Vista

The third road game was the charm for Brawley, as they earned their first road win of the season. They walked away with a 49-40 win over the Bonita Vista Barons on Saturday. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 72-35 victory the Barons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2016.

Brawley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bre Montano, who posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucca Rubin, who scored 11 points.

Several Barons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Shea Gonzalez, who had 23 points and four steals. Gonzalez has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sophia Ambriz, who put up eight points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists.

Brawley's record now sits at 7-8. As for Bonita Vista, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-11.

Brawley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 69-19 loss against Imperial on the 7th. As for Bonita Vista, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 36-17 defeat against Sweetwater on the 7th.
