McCluer North has gone 9-1 against Riverview Gardens recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Stars will square off against the Rams at 4:00 p.m. McCluer North is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 16.4 runs per game this season.
McCluer North is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest loss since October 14, 2024 on Monday. They came up short against Clayton, falling 19-7. The Stars have struggled against the Greyhounds recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Mariya Boaze and Amya Adams stepped up to the plate in a big way. Boaze got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs, while Adams got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Those stolen bases marked the first that Boaze has snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lalia Flowers, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Riverview Gardens hadn't done well against Hazelwood East recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Rams put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 12-6 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Rams have posted against the Spartans since October 5, 2015.
Breayra Lampley made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lampley was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with five stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Lampley is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season.
In other batting news, Lawren Powell was incredible, going 1-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Dashanti Grant was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Riverview Gardens always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
With the victory, Riverview Gardens broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-6. As for McCluer North, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-3.
Riverview Gardens' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: McCluer North hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .371. It's a different story for Riverview Gardens, though, as they've only averaged .240. Will they be able to contain McCluer North's hitters?
