Basketball Game Preview: San Luis Obispo Tigers vs. Cabrillo Conquistadores

The San Luis Obispo Tigers will take on the Cabrillo Conquistadores at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as San Luis Obispo comes in on six and Cabrillo on five.

It was a proper cat-fight when San Luis Obispo took on Paso Robles on Friday. San Luis Obispo blew past Paso Robles, posting a 60-19 win. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Cabrillo over Templeton in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Cabrillo enjoyed a cozy 53-34 victory over Templeton.

Cabrillo's win came from a few key players San Luis Obispo will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jasmyn Hughes, who made all 5 shots she took racking up 10 points in addition to five boards and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Mccune, who posted six points along with six rebounds and five steals.

Cabrillo smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in seven consecutive contests.

Cabrillo has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for San Luis Obispo, they pushed their record up to 18-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

San Luis Obispo came up short against Cabrillo in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 38-28. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Hughes, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards.
