Football Recap: Lacrosse Wins Going Away Against Quinter

LaCrosse won the last time they faced Quinter and things went their way on Friday too. The Leopards enjoyed a cozy 58-44 victory over the Bulldogs. That looming 58-44 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Leopards yet this season.

LaCrosse's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Christian Rush led the charge by rushing for 138 yards while picking up 7.7 yards per carry, and also throwing for 90 yards and two TDs while completing 71.4% of his passes. Rush is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 102 every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Lee Holopirek, who rushed for 71 yards and three touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: LaCrosse was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 289 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 155 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

LaCrosse didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Rush, Tyron Steinert, and Holopirek picked up one apiece. Rush got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

LaCrosse now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Quinter, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-3.

Coming up, LaCrosse will be playing at home against Wichita County on Friday. The Leopards will need to watch out since the Indians have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Quinter, they will venture away from home to square off against Ellis at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will be up against the Railroaders' rather soft defense (which has allowed 51.2 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
