Basketball Recap: Madison Warhawks vs. La Jolla Vikings
It was a good run, but the Madison Warhawks unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 45-33 to La Jolla. Madison has struggled against the Vikings recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Madison lost, one person who can't be blamed is Amyaha Walker. Despite the final result, she scored 26 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That was a full 78.8% of Madison's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Aniyah Murrell was another key contributor, scoring five points along with two steals.
La Jolla can attribute much of their success to Elena Farrar, who scored ten points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Reagan Bennett, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Madison's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-7. As for La Jolla, their win bumped their record up to 14-11.
Madison will face off against the Norsemen at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for La Jolla, they will head out on the road to square off against the Rattlers at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
