Football Recap: Weslaco East Wildcats vs. Sharyland Rattlers
Weslaco East kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a 45-28 bruising from the Sharyland Rattlers. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.
Weslaco East's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elias Rodriguez, who rushed for 163 yards and one touchdown. Another player making a difference was Aiden Gonzalez, who rushed for 102 yards and one TD on only seven carries.
Calvin Harris had a dynamite game For Sharyland., throwing for 241 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushing for 60 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries. Weslaco East has already played their next contest, a 28-26 loss against Mission on the 4th. As for Sharyland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 28-14 win against Hanna on the 4th.
