Football Game Preview: Maize Eagles vs. North RedHawks + How To Watch

The Maize Eagles will welcome the North RedHawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Maize knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully North likes a good challenge.

Maize's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat South 50-0. Fans of the Eagles have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Maize got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brayden Myovela out in front who threw for 130 yards and two TDs, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. Malachi Leichner was in the mix too, providing the Eagles with two scores.

Maize's run defense was locked in: South could only muster 2.9 yards per carry. The Eagles didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 8.3.

Maize didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. Brodie Jep Jarvis led the group effort, picking up three of those interceptions all by himself. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, North fell victim to Southeast and their airtight defense on Thursday. They were outmatched by the Golden Buffalo and fell 64-0. That's two games in a row now that the RedHawks have lost by exactly 64 points.

Maize pushed their record up to 8-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.4 points over those games. As for North, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.

Friday's game might be decided in the trenches. Maize has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 230.4 rushing yards per game.
