Basketball Recap: Moorpark Beats Fillmore for Their Fifth Straight Win

Moorpark had won four straight games and Maya Urteaga did her part to make it five on Tuesday. The Moorpark Musketeers blew past the Fillmore Flashes, posting a 77-21 victory thanks in part to Urteaga, who posted 31 points. Her evening made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Fillmore's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Yaneli Landin, who put up five points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucy Murillo, who had four points and six rebounds.

Moorpark's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Fillmore, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Moorpark wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 52-28 loss against Newbury Park on the 4th. As for Fillmore, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 51-19 defeat against Carpinteria on the 5th.
