Preview: Riverview Raiders vs. Brentwood Spartans
Riverview is 2-8 against Brentwood since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Riverview Raiders have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Brentwood Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on December 20th. Hopefully Riverview focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Monday.
Last Monday, Riverview strolled past Apollo Ridge with points to spare, taking the game 39-21.
Katerina Tsambis and Lola Abraham were among the main playmakers for Riverview as the former scored 16 points along with five rebounds and the latter scored eight points along with seven rebounds and five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Tsambis has scored at least 25% of Riverview's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Juliette Brun, who scored seven points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Brentwood, who are still winless after their fourth contest. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 56-35 walloping at the hands of Ellwood City last Monday. While losing is never fun, Brentwood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 509th, while Ellwood City is ranked 151st).
Riverview's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 34.33 points. As for Brentwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
Riverview might still be hurting after the 39-19 defeat they got from Brentwood in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Will Riverview have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
