Basketball Recap: Simi Valley Takes a Loss

Simi Valley played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Camarillo Scorpions and fell 86-22. The Pioneers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-11.

Christa Contreras was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 41 points and 12 rebounds for Camarillo. Contreras has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Emerson Martin, who posted 14 points and eight boards.

Simi Valley has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season. As for Camarillo, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-8.

Simi Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 66-25 win against Royal on the 3rd. As for Camarillo, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-41 defeat against Oak Park on the 3rd.
