Softball Game Preview: McDonough Warhawks vs. Riverdale Raiders

The McDonough Warhawks will head out to square off against the Riverdale Raiders at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. McDonough has now lost 14 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since August 12.

Locust Grove hit McDonough with a seven-run third inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Warhawks came up short against the Wildcats, falling 13-5.

Kylei Buffington was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of NyAsia Starks, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Meanwhile, Riverdale fell victim to Spalding and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 18-0 to the Jaguars. Considering the last time the Raiders couldn't score was back in August, the team can't take the result too hard.

Riverdale's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for McDonough, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-18.

McDonough suffered a grim 25-2 defeat to Riverdale when the teams last played back in August of 2023. Can the Warhawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
