Basketball Game Preview: Taft Wildcats vs. Orosi Cardinals

A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Wildcats duke it out with the Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Taft will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Last Tuesday, Taft was able to grind out a solid victory over Delano, taking the game 50-38.

Taft relied on the efforts of Shelby Gregory, who went 10-for-25 en route to 25 points along with eight boards and four steals, and Taira Leota, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. The game was Gregory's third in a row with at least 19 points.

Taft smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Orosi came up short against Lindsay on Tuesday and fell 54-42. Orosi has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Taft's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points over those games. As for Orosi, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-15.
