Basketball Recap: Boron Comes Up Short

If Boron was riding high fresh off their 35-8 takedown of Frazier Mountain last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Boron Bobcats lost 43-21 to the Bishop Union Broncos on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1073rd, while the Broncos are ranked 351st).

Leading Bishop Union to victory were Tannyr Ludwick and Kristin Allen. Ludwick almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine steals, while Allen went 6 for 10 on her way to 13 points along with five assists and five steals. Ludwick has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Faye Spoonhunter, who posted two points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Boron's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Bishop Union, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-2.

Boron will welcome California City at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bishop Union, they will head out on the road to challenge Kern Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bishop Union's defense has only allowed 25.5 points per game this season, so Kern Valley's offense will have their work cut out for them.
