Basketball Game Preview: Archbishop Carroll Patriots vs. Neumann-Goretti Saints

The Archbishop Carroll Patriots will square off against the Neumann-Goretti Saints at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Archbishop Carroll comes in on five and Neumann-Goretti on ten.

Archbishop Carroll is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Pennsylvania's top teams: Archbishop Wood, who was ranked sixth at the time (Archbishop Carroll was ranked 16th). Archbishop Carroll came out on top against Archbishop Wood by a score of 57-45 on Monday.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Archbishop Carroll to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alexis Eberz, who posted 30 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Eberz has scored at least a third of Archbishop Carroll's points. Another player making a difference was Kayla Eberz, who put up 16 points.

Meanwhile, Neumann-Goretti had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 49-40 win over Cardinal O'Hara on Monday.

Archbishop Carroll pushed their record up to 16-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points over those games. As for Neumann-Goretti, their win bumped their record up to 20-3.

Archbishop Carroll came up short against Neumann-Goretti when the teams last played back in January, falling 53-42. Can Archbishop Carroll avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
