Soccer Game Preview: Great Oak vs. Vista Murrieta

The Great Oak Wolfpack will square off against the Vista Murrieta Broncos at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

Great Oak is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Murrieta Valley just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Nighthawks by a score of 3-2. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Wolfpack came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while the Nighthawks are ranked 169th).

Meanwhile, Vista Murrieta waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They had just enough and edged the Golden Bears out 2-1.

Vista Murrieta is also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3-1 record this season. As for Great Oak, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 12-5-1.

Great Oak skirted past Vista Murrieta 2-1 in their previous meeting on January 10th. Does Great Oak have another victory up their sleeve, or will Vista Murrieta turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
