Soccer Game Preview: Helix vs. San Dieguito Academy

The Helix Highlanders will be taking part in a tournament against the San Dieguito Academy Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Helix will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Helix's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They came out on top against El Capitan by a score of 2-0. Give the Highlanders' defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Kayla Hopkins was the driving force of Helix's attack as she scored both of Helix's goals, bringing her season total up to five goals.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 0-0 at halftime, San Dieguito Academy was not quite Point Loma's equal in the second half on Friday. They fell just short of the Pointers by a score of 1-0. Having soared to a lofty six goals in the game before, the Mustangs' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

San Dieguito Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Helix, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.

Helix beat San Dieguito Academy by a goal when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 2-1. Does Helix have another victory up their sleeve, or will San Dieguito Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
