Softball Recap: Mccook's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Two

McCook and Wray/Yuma pushed the score to 19-0 the last time they played Wray/Yuma, but on Thursday defenses reigned supreme. The Bison never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bison.

Not much got past Gracey Cornelsen, who gave up just five hits to keep Wray/Yuma off the board. Cornelsen has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 17 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Josilin Miller was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Peterson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

McCook hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

McCook's win bumped their record up to 6-12. As for Wray/Yuma, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McCook will square off against Hastings at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bison's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for Wray/Yuma, they will face off against Bayard at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
