Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Niara Smith and Ashirah Williams Lead Elsinore to Victory

It was a proper cat-fight when Elsinore faced off against Perris on Friday. The Elsinore Tigers narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Perris Panthers 40-38. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted since December 29, 2023.

Elsinore was led to victory by Ashirah Williams and Niara Smith. Williams almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine steals, while Smith posted six points in addition to seven rebounds and six blocks. Those 21 points gave Williams a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chayce Mccoy, who put up eight points and five steals.

The victory made it two in a row for Elsinore and bumps their season record up to 4-8. As for Perris, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-5.

Elsinore will host Liberty at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Perris, they will venture away from home to take on Vista del Lago at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
