Soccer Game Preview: Chaparral vs. Deming

For the first time this season, Chaparral will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out to face off against the Deming Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Deming better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if Chaparral's game on Saturday is any indication, that's when Chaparral really gets things going. The Lobos blew past Valencia 5-1. Chaparral haven't had any issues with Valencia recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Deming, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They had just enough and edged out Hatch Valley 3-2 on Thursday. The score was all tied up 2-2 at the break, but Deming were the better team in the second half.

Yued Cuevas and William Hofacket scored all three of Deming's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 13 goals.

Deming picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 5-8-1. As for Chaparral, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Chaparral came up short against Deming when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 4-2. Can the Lobos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
