Softball Recap: Clopton Comes Up Short

The matchup between Clopton and Bowling Green on Tuesday hardly resembled the 1-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Hawks took a 13-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bobcats. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bobcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Calleigh Noah stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run and one double. Danika Martin also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Clopton has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for Bowling Green, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clopton will face off against Monroe City at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.67 runs per game on average), something the Hawks will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Bowling Green, they will challenge North Callaway at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Thunderbirds' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Bobcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
