It was a good run, but Effingham County unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Savannah Christian Raiders by a score of 13-12. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Rebels, who until this game were averaging 4.07 runs allowed.

Effingham County got a good showing from Sean Etzle, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance gave Etzle a new career-low in hits.

At the plate, Aiden Garcia was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Will Floyd, who scored four runs while going 3-for-3.

Effingham County suffered their first road loss, dropping their record down to 12-2. As for Savannah Christian, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.

Effingham County didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 4-3 win against South Effingham on the 8th. Savannah Christian will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Vidalia at 5:45 p.m. on March 19th.
