Baseball Recap: McDonough Takes a Loss

If McDonough was riding high fresh off their 19-9 takedown of Alcovy last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The McDonough Warhawks fell just short of the Woodland Wolfpack by a score of 16-15 on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Warhawks in their matchups with the Wolfpack: they've now lost five in a row.

Dedrick Cooper made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Emery Hackney was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

McDonough's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Woodland, the victory snapped their losing streak at eight games dating back to last season and leaves them with a 1-6 record.

While McDonough had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
