Basketball Game Preview: Trona Tornadoes vs. Mammoth Huskies

The Trona Tornadoes will face off against the Mammoth Huskies at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Trona has three straight wins, Mammoth has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Trona is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 57-7 victory over Lee Vining. The Tornadoes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 25 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Mammoth lost to Desert on the road by a 55-37 margin on Tuesday.

Trona is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.3 points per game. As for Mammoth, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.

Trona was taken down by Mammoth 54-8 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Trona was down 27-2.
