Basketball Recap: Lindsay Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Lindsay duked it out withCorcoran on Friday. The Lindsay Cardinals fell 51-39 to the Corcoran Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cardinals of the 49-28 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Lindsay lost, don't look at Priseis Sanchez. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 boards gave Sanchez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Melanie Navarro, who posted six points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Lindsay smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Leading Corcoran to victory were Natalie Luna and Zoee Cabral. Luna earned nine points in addition to five rebounds and five steals, while Cabral had 14 points and six boards. Luna has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Kaelynn Castillo was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Lindsay now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Corcoran, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.

Lindsay didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 51-47 defeat against North on the 18th. As for Corcoran, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 42-23 loss against Strathmore on the 22nd.
