Soccer Game Preview: Pioneer vs. Leland

The Pioneer Mustangs will challenge the Leland Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pioneer is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 4.8 goals per game this season.

Leland better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when Pioneer really get things going. Pioneer was the clear victors by a 4-1 margin over Branham on Tuesday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Mustangs considering their one-goal performance the contest before.

They hit Branham with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Ella Overhulse (2), Rylee Ronchetti, and Destini Twiggs.

Meanwhile, Leland had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They never let the Mustangs onto the board and left with a 1-0 victory. Give the Chargers' defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

The win made it two in a row for Pioneer and bumps their season record up to 12-2. As for Leland, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2.
