Basketball Recap: Rio Americano Comes Up Short

Rio Americano was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They were beaten by the Inderkum Tigers 52-19. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 80-13 back in January.

Despite the defeat, Rio Americano saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Natalie Saunders posted ten points.

Inderkum's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aniyah Bruhn led the charge by going 5-for-11 to rack up 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals. With that strong performance, Bruhn is now averaging an impressive 2 steals per game. Janayah Johnson was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and ten steals.

Rio Americano's loss dropped their record down to 6-18. As for Inderkum, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season.

Rio Americano has already played their next contest (against Christian Brothers), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Inderkum also has no score uploaded for their next game, this one against Ponderosa.
