Basketball Game Preview: La Quinta Aztecs vs. Samueli Academy Firewolves

The La Quinta Aztecs just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Samueli Academy Firewolves at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. La Quinta will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

La Quinta will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Oxford Academy, who they had gone 0-5 against in their five prior meetings. La Quinta rang in the new year with a 38-29 victory over Oxford Academy on Thursday.

Among those leading the charge was Katelyn Vo, who posted 15 points. Another player making a difference was Katie Nguyen, who earned eight points.

Meanwhile, Samueli Academy came up short against Saddleback back in December of 2024 and fell 33-24. The Firewolves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

La Quinta pushed their record up to 14-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.4 points per game. As for Samueli Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.
